Happy in the U.A.E.
In the beginning of 2017 I involuntarily spent a few months in the United Arab Emirates.
Exploring Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras al-Khaimah.
Got arrested while taking pictures in Fujairah on day seven.
Spent four days in a prison cell, sleeping on the floor.
My embassy managed to bail me out.
Unfortunately, the Emirati authorities made a big fuzz out of it.
“National security threat,” they said.
They confiscated my passport. And my mobile.
It took me three months to get the charges dropped.
However, I do like the pictures.
The series is now published as one part of
“Beirut / Tokyo 東京 and one picture of Mt. Fuji / Happy in the U.A.E.”
